Little things seemed to snowball into big things this morning. Rachel was frustrated and in tears as I asked her to change her shirt because it was too short and immodest, she couldn't locate the tights that she wanted to wear, I put her scarf on in a different way than she had pictured.....and well, you get the idea. She was also feeling hurt because she told me she sang a song yesterday for a friend at school who told her the song was "stupid and boring." All in all, when it came time to take her and Anna to school, poor Rachel's little face was red and blotchy and I didn't have the heart to drop her off at school in that state.
So.....we went back home. I held her on my lap and we hugged and talked and laughed and tried to figure out how to make mornings go more smoothly and also decided on something funny to think of when someone says something hurtful or rude. She decided on pretending imagining that a giant whale swims right out as a person opens their mouth.
Then, we went upstairs to have a little girl time.

She was all smiles and felt much better! I love my little Rachel and hope her afternoon goes well!!
Oh, what a great mom! Talk about taking advantage of a difficult situation and turning it around to be very positive. Way to go. Isn't she a cutie?
