Geocaching today while Jay was with Katie and Tyler up in Portland for the morning. Geocaching is when you enter latitude/longitude cooridinates into a GPS and then search for a container of some sort placed there by someone else. When you find the container, you can mark your name in a notebook and then re-hide it for the next person. We went to
this website and found the coordinates for three easy places in Salem to start. The girls were very excited as we began our hunt. Rachel kept saying that she felt like she was on Survivor hunting for the immunity idol.

We looked in trees....

We looked near tractors.....

We looked around electrical boxes......

And we looked sad and disappointed that our first geocaching experience netted no finds.....

We are excited to try again though! The website said that in Minto Brown park alone, there are 40. With that many, we are bound to find at least one.....right?
that is such a fun idea! Looks like a great day with your girls.
ReplyDeleteKim we do letter boxing same thing but you use written clues. We have found 2 in the library one at the northern light pub all over lincoln city, all over bush park. We love it. Don't get discouraged if you don't get one at first sometimes things happen the the boxes, but keep searching.
ReplyDeleteTammy ~ where do you find the clues for those ones?
