I haven't seen a black and white

movie in a long time. Tonight I was lucky to attend "The Lady Vanishes" at the historic Elsinore theatre with Laura, Stephanie, Nancy and Stephanie's friends that I don't know. I have always been a Hitchcock fan and so I jumped at the chance to attend this film, which is part of a series of older movies presented through Chemeketa Community College. It premiered in 1938 and starred Michael Redgrave and Margaret Lockwood. And the Elsinore theatre was the perfect gothic venue for a Hitchcock! The acting may have been unintentionally hilarious in some parts, (i.e. the "death" scenes, the gun fights, the model trains, etc.) but despite the limitations of early film-making, The Lady Vanishes was the epitome of what a true Hitchcock movie should be.....romance, intrigue, suspense and a few little twists.

Good evening......

I can hardly wait to see a silent movie play at the Elsinore....especially to see the beautiful, old fashioned pipe organ in action! Thanks Steph for the discovery of this film fest!
