Give a Day

Get a Day! We are super excited to go to Disneyworld in a few weeks! As we were watching Extreme Home Makeover several weeks ago, they advertised a new program sponsored by Disney entitled "Give a Day, Get a Day." Disney is encouraging people to spend a day in service somewhere in their own community and in return, is giving a one day pass to each person who participated in the service.

So we thought, "why not?" We checked out this website and found a project that would be appropriate for everyone in our family and are excited to announce that we are going to be making blankets for the Union Gospel Mission. We are so happy to be of service! As I looked over the list of possible services needed just in Salem alone, I realized that our family needs to take advantage of more service opportunities in our community. I hope that many families are taking Disney up on this offer as it is a win/win for everyone!

So as we stand here in several weeks, I know we will appreciate our trip all the more knowing we were able to contribute service in our community.

  1. That is awesome! I had heard about that program but figured one would have to help build a house or something. Blankets I can do... Congrats on participating in this great endeavor.

  2. That's what we thought at first too but checked out the website out of curiousity and they have many different opportunities listed by age appropriateness. One that we thought looked fun was volunteering at the Gilbert House but you had to be at least 15 to do that and we wanted to do it all together.
