Currently I have 24 piano students, of which, about 2/3 are LDS. I love the fact that several of them have progressed enough to be able to play out of the Simplified Hymn book. Many of them have chosen, on their own, to learn to play these hymns as their "fun song" choice. Currently the most popular pick is How Firm a Foundation, which I attribute to the fact that it was the hymn learned by the children for the Churchwide Primary Program last year.
It is so wonderful to hear and be a part of musical growth! And to combine that with spiritual growth is so exciting.
Anna has requested that I order a Simplified Hymn book for her ~ this makes me wonder why I haven't before. Better late than never I suppose.
That is awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteMy great grandmother was the piano teacher of Spencer W Kimball - who knows, you could be teaching a future prophet how to play!
Love that they are wanting to play church songs!
I need to get that hymn book for my kiddos too.
ReplyDeleteLaura that's really cool!
