Schedules can be......

fun when you make your own! I love making lists and checking things off on a Spring cleaning schedule. I love having a vacation schedule. The high school I attended for my freshman and sophomore years allowed you to pick your own class schedule in a way similar to college. You knew what classes were required, but you could register in a way that the friend to acquaintance ratio was in your favor (most of the time). I loved this! When I moved the summer after my sophomore year, I recall being surprised that a class schedule was generated out of the computer for me and I had no choice in the matter.

Last night, Jay, Katie, Tyler and I were going over schedules for the next few days and each individual schedule was pretty full. The combination seems practically exhausting! And in between everything going on Saturday, I don't know where to fit in the Tulip Festival. There has been something every Saturday in the last month and it has kept being pushed back on the schedule. "We'll do that next Saturday...." is a phrase that has been heard all month. I've lived here in the Willamette Valley for 16 years now and I fear it will be 17 before I get up the highway to the Wooden Shoe. So sad......

But I do get to take pictures on Saturday of Katie in her Prom glory, drive Tyler to a lacrosse game, take Tyler to help decorate for Prom for his Leadership class, and many other things that would be too mundane and redundant to list. :-) Suffice it to say that our year old Honda Pilot has just over 10,000 miles on it already. You'd think I drive kids around all the time or something.....haha! But I love it. It gives me time to visit with them and find out about their lives.

Last night, I watched Katie try on many, many dresses until she narrowed down the "one" for her. What a fun time I had watching Katie and spending time talking as we drove to and from the Bridal shop at the Keizer Station.

So, even though I don't often get to set my own schedule, I'm glad to be a part of my kids' schedules! I love talking to them on the way to their various activities and then having time to think or sing in the car alone on the way home. And being in the car quite a bit isn't bad if you have a good cd, playlist and especially a fabulous conversation right?

  1. What a wonderful life! Enjoy every packed minute of it. This is one of the best times, when your children are going in so many directions, and they still need you so much.
