FOUNTAINS....FOUNTAINS....FOUNTAINS

One of our FAVORITE things to do in Rome was to sit on the side of a fountain or stand in a fountain and take a picture.

This is the Four Rivers Fountain. While the sculpture was beautiful (carved by Bernini himself), the thing we found most interesting about this fountain was that almost every tourist who spoke English mentioned "Angels and Demons" as they passed this fountain. You'll just have to read the book to know why......
This is the Trevi Fountain ~ it's said that if you throw a penny over your shoulder into the fountain, you'll be guaranteed another trip to Rome. We ALL threw pennies....multiple pennies.
I don't know the name of the following fountain, but I do know that it sits near the base of the Spanish Steps. I was also thrilled to see it in the movie Roman Holiday which was a featured film in the Chemeketa film series shown at the Elsinore. I had a difficult time containing my excitement in the quiet of the theater as I saw landmarks that I was familiar with.

This pics were all taken over New Years 2005. What a fun time we all had together! If it hadn't been so cold, (yet after Stockholm, Rome felt balmy) we might have dipped our toes into at least one of the fountains.

When in Rome, right?

  1. Funny you mentioned dipping your toes--as I was looking at your pix, I went back to see what shots I have of Four Rivers, and lo--there's Mona standing barefoot in it!
