Packing

ones life into a few boxes is always an interesting process. What will I need? What can I live without? What might I forget? When we lived in Stockholm 5 years ago, we had to pack everything we would need for 7 months into one cargo crate shipping container which was about 3 feet high and 6 feet wide. For the most part, we did a pretty good job thinking of the things we would really need, but there were also things we forgot.....i.e. our Christmas stockings.

Trying to help Katie this week in what to pack and what to leave, I'm sure we will do pretty well but will also forget some things. Thank goodness for UPS!

At least when we went to Stockholm, we could take the most important thing with us, which was each other. Though we will miss Katie terribly and she will always belong to our family, I'm hoping she meets good friends at college and becomes part of a "family" away from home.

As for the Christmas stocking incident of 2005, we improvised and each designed a "stocking" on a large paper sack and had so much fun doing so, that we've considered doing it again one Christmas just for fun!

Being forgetful isn't always a bad thing if it inspires the imagination.........
