While waiting in line at the Tower of Terror in Florida last March, one of the Disney workers gave Tyler a red tag on a lanyard and asked him to carry it with him until he got to the front of the line. We had seen these red tags on other people and wondered about the significance of them. The park worker, or Disney cast member, explained that it tracks how much time it takes in the line from entrance to ride. This helps them put an accurate wait time at the front gate so people don't think they are getting in a short line that ends up taking 30 minutes.
This made sense to everyone except Rachel. No matter how we explained it to her, she could not understand. Finally in exasperation, she said "I'll just get it later." We all laughed and let it drop. When Rachel gets a mental block, we have to let her move it in her own time. A few days later, after having time to think it through, she completely understood the concept. As a parent though, it was frustrating for me not to be able to explain it to her in a way that she could understand it right there on the spot. But, though it might've been a frustrating experience, "I'll just get it later" has become a popular catch phrase in our family.
P.S. Rachel also doesn't like me telling stories about her, so if you could all keep this on the down low, I'd be much obliged!!
P.P.S. I know the above picture is not of Rachel in line at the Tower of Terror. It's at Epcot. I didn't have a line picture so I had to improvise.
Great post and mum's the word! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's too cute. And, I promise not to breathe a word about it! Laura and I are both good secret keepers!
