I have always loved

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens ~ the book and the movie (most versions anyway) and have not seen the current animated version, but would eventually like to do so. Even as a child, I marveled at the change of Scrooge's heart, in his attitude, and in his spirit. As a teenager, certain things began to stand out as I understood Dickens' message on a deeper level and love it even more now as an adult. If only we all could be shown things about our future that could prompt such a change, although this novel has always given me impetus to be a better person and find happiness in serving others. I love the following quote for that very reason.

"Men's courses will foreshadow certain ends, to which, if perservered in, they must lead," said Scrooge. "But if the courses be departed from, the ends will change. Say it is thus with what you show me."
~ A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens

One of my favorite moments in the story occurs on Christmas morning, when Scrooge realizes he has not missed Christmas. I love everything he does that day, from startling a boy in the street to bring the Cratchetts the best and biggest turkey to reconciling and spending the day with his nephew. In the end, "no one kept Christmas" better than Scrooge. I hope to follow that example!

(By the way, this version above is my favorite adaptation) Now....go and keep Christmas in your heart and have a great day!

  1. That is a fabulous quote! I love it, too. I think the George C. Scott version is wonderful, that and the Muppets' Christmas Carol...
