Actually....I finished the entire 5 books in the series in a week or so. Granted, they are Young Adult fiction, but more often then not, I find myself enjoying that genre more than most. (Ahem.....Harry Potter and Twilight) Anyway, the weave a modern day fictional character into the world of Greek mythology which I love! After finishing the series, I spent a few hours refreshing my memory on the lesser known Greek Gods on wikipedia and that was fascinating. I learned, among other things, that the word hermaphrodite is a Greek word and actually was a guy in mythology who was the son of Hermes and Aphrodite.....hmmmmm.....I'd never realized that before. Not like I use the word hermaphrodite very often though, but still I find it interesting to learn the origins of words.
Then, I visited the Salem Public Library and checked out a children's book of Greek Mythology and a semi-comic book version of the Odyssey to read with my kids.
